Cromwell, Connecticut: When it comes to delivering greener, cleaner, renewable energy, CEMA members want their customers and Connecticut state lawmakers to know that the future is already here for their industry. In fact, if you heat with home heating fuel, this new biomass-based fuel is already in your tank.
“More than half of Connecticut residents use home heating fuel to keep their homes safe and warm during the cold, winter months,” said Chris Herb, President of the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association (CEMA) which represents 600 locally owned home heating fuel companies in the state. “If you use home heating fuel, we want you to know that you are making a difference right now by using ultra-low sulfur heating fuel mixed with renewable biodiesel.”
The new podcast is called Mission Possible: Delivering Cleaner Fuel Today. Each episode features a CEMA member and tells their story and how they are making a difference for their customers and community. Episode One, which will be released to the public on Friday, October 25, 2024, features Jamie Densmore who is the third-generation owner of Densmore Oil Company located in Stonington, Connecticut. Jamie bought the company from her father three years ago and holds two degrees, one in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (E&EB) from the University of Connecticut for her undergraduate degree, and a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from Northeastern University.
“The oil we are selling burns so much cleaner than your traditional heating oil, and that’s something that was very important to me with my environmental background,” Densmore said. “I want to make sure that I’m providing my customers with the best possible fuel choice that they have.”
Densmore also talks about giving back to the community and how she donated a boiler to a woman in need after a local church asked for help on the woman’s behalf.
“That’s what you get when you do business locally. You try to help those people who support you. My grandfather and father taught me that we are only as good as those that we can help. I’m sure there are many other stories like that from other dealers around the state. It’s important to support those who support you,” Densmore said.
“Jamie’s story, and the ones you will hear in the coming weeks from these family-owned businesses, represent a century of service to the 169 communities who make up our state,” CEMA President Herb added. “We have always led the evolution of the heating industry moving from coal to kerosene, to heating oil, then ultra-low sulfur heating oil, and now Bioheat® fuel. Aside from an ambulance driver, a police officer, or the firefighter, we are the only industry that will be at your house anytime you call us. Unmatched service joined by renewable Bioheat® fuel make us the perfect choice for Connecticut homeowners.”
